Specialty Safaris (Birding, Photography, etc.)

If you have a special interest that requires intensive effort it would be wise to have a private vehicle for safari or join a group safari designed for your interest. Birders need to move slower and spend more time with small sightings which often conflicts with the typical safari traveler who wants to go from large sighting to large sighting with only an occasional stop for the most impressive bird sightings. Likewise, most people want to stop and take pictures so virtually every safari is a photo safari but if you want to work on techniques and sit patiently for long time periods to wait for unique action as well as have room for large camera equipment and be out at daybreak to maximize the best light of the day you will want your own vehicle or a group with similar devotion to photography. Thus, consider your interests and if they are very focused consider that when planning.
