Makanyane Safari Lodge is unique because it sits on 4,500 private acres that border on Madikwe Game Reserve.
This provides an exclusive game viewing area in addition to the utilization of the entire reserve. The lodge itself is tucked into a scenically beautiful and lush riverside area.
Madikwe Game Reserve is located in the Northwest Territory of South Africa and borders Botswana (see the map to the right).

Wildlife at Makanyane Safari Lodge
Makanyane offers the same access as other lodges within Madwike Game Reserve to similar species - including the rare African Wild Dog. The Big 5 including lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, and African Cape Buffalo. Leopard can just as elusive and hard to find in Madikwe Game Reserve as they are in other areas, but with some hard work and patience they can be spotted.

Makanyane Safari Lodge Accommodations

The lodge consists of a beautiful main building and eight stunning suites, which offer spectacular views over the tranquil Marico River.

The chalets have an open-fronted lounge and private sundeck, the perfect place to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of the bush. The call of the fish eagle echoes down the river as elephants, escaping the heat of the day, plunge into the deep water and disturb the sleeping hippo.
