I predicted with the changing surface water conditions in Northern Botswana that the Santawani concession would be one of the premier game viewing areas and that is definitely holding true. We have had quite a few clients visit Santawani Lodge lately and the reports have been outstanding, especially for the variety of predator viewing.

Santawani has been a fair location for wild dogs as about 30% of our clients have seen them in the Santawani Concession in the last 13 months. It was believed the area lay on the edges of three different packs so they all come and go but it wasn’t the core area for any pack. Recently one pack has been using the area more as clients have seen a pack with seven puppies and even had a kill occur right in camp.

Santawani is a terrific area for leopards and my good friend Doctor who is managing Santawani Lodge with his wife Tsogang has found five different individual adult leopards on a single game drive before. Our clients have had leopard sightings on about 75% of visits. In September clients had a rare treat of observing two cubs at their den.
