Safari Deals, Latest News from Asilia Camps
Asilia operates some of my favorite Tanzania Camps, their properties include Sayari Camp , Olakira Camp, Dunia Camp, Suyan Camp, Oliver’s Camp and on Zanzibar Matemwe Bungalows.
I have just heard word of two very exciting sightings of some of Tanzania’s rarest mammals and then below I have pasted some Africa Safari Deals and current specials, including a custom offer from The Wild Source.

Recently on the entrance road to Sayari Camp in the Northern Serengeti a black rhinoceros was located. This was the 5th sighting in the area since the camp opened in June. Still a rare occurrence but this could possibly develop into only the second area of the Serengeti where rhinos are seen with any regularity. Currently the best place to seek out rhinos in the Serengeti is the area surrounding Moru Kopjes where Dunia Camp is located.

In other exciting news a pack of African wild dogs has been seen in the vicinity of Oliver’s Camp inside of Tarangire National Park. Unfortunately African wild dogs have become very rare in Northern Tanzania and currently the best chances of finding them are in the Tarangire area, especially the less visited southern area of the park where Oliver’s Camp is located, this is also a good area for cheetah and it is not a heavily touristed part of the park. For a couple years the wild dogs had become commonly sighted in the area around Suyan Camp in the Loliondo Reserve. Sightings are still possible there but have become more sporadic.

Tanzania Safari Deals
The Asilia Camps have some of the best locations within the Serengeti Ecosystem, Tarangire National Park, and on Zanzibar. They are extremely well run with fabulous staff and service, and very good luxury without losing their touch with the wilderness and an authentic tented camp feel.
The following are outstanding value deals for 2010:
Sayari Camp Safari Deal - Pay 2 Stay 3 for 33% savings. This is valid January through March providing an exceptional value to stay in what is perhaps the Serengeti’s most unique luxury camp and during that time period it is the only camp in the exceptional Northern Serengeti so you have a defacto private Serengeti experience.
All Camps Safari Deal - Pay 3 Stay 4 for 25% savings. This is valid for January through March allowing a fantastic price to stay in some of the best located camps for the migration calving season – the absolute best time to be in the Serengeti for wildlife observation.
*These deals can be combined (as long as Sayari is not used for the Pay 3 Stay 4 deal) and that is what I recommend. Use the Pay 3 Stay 4 to focus on the migration calving season, or even better Pay 6 and stay 8 to include time at Oliver’s Camp in Tarangire with even more nights to focus on the migration and then either way top it off with an exclusive stay at Sayari where you have the most scenic part of the Serengeti virtually to yourself.
The Wild Source has created our own safari deals for the months of June and September through December 19th, 2010. With a stay of 7 or more nights at any of the Asilia Camps we will discount the safari 15% off the Asilia accommodation.
