The Botswana Tourism Board publishes an annual magazine titled Discover Botswana. As you might expect, the magazine focuses on Botswana Safaris and related topics. For 2009 they chose to highlight major wildlife conservation issues within Botswana and their accompanying conservation projects. They also focused on the closely related topic of community-based tourism projects supported by the Botswana Tourism Board.
I am very pleased that one article, "Central Kalahari Game Reserve: Grappling with predator/livestock conflict", features our research efforts at Grassland Bushman Lodge (also known as Grasslands Safaris) as well as highlights the unique experiences for tourists that visit this wonderful lodge that places emphasis on the disappearing Bushman culture.

The Grassland Bushman Lodge team rescued this lioness from impending execution for cattle predation. She was relocated to inside the Central Kalahari Game Reserve but as is often the case quickly returned to the cattle farms resulting in her being rescued again but now living within a 40 acre enclosure as part of the Grassland Bushman Rescue Center. We hope our conditioned taste aversion project can mitigate the issue and prevent the need for such drastic measures.
