Bill is now on the last stop of his 2009 Tanzania safari and will be spending the day and night at Tarangire National Park in northeastern Tanzania. Click below to see the previous 2009 Tanzania Safari destinations. I have heard from Bill through a text message and he has seen a lot of great wildlife areas as well as properties. He has some great photos and even some video of a chimpanzee swinging from a tree - I'm sure it was from either Mahale or Gombe Stream. We should find out more about his Tanzania adventure towards the end of the week.

For his last day on safari, Bill is staying at Tarangire River Camp in Tarangire National Park. Tarangire River Camp is a permanent tented camp overlooking the Tarangire River in Tanzania. The accomodations at Tarangire River Camp are on the luxurious side - which isn't a bad way to finish out a safari. Tarangire River Camp offers game drives, walking safaris and birding. There are also cultural opportunities available at the camp as you can visit with the Datoga and Masai tribes in the area.
The dry season is just about to kick into high gear in Tarangire, and the dry season lasts from June - September. The dry season offers fantastics wildlife viewing opportunities as the water dries up and becomes more scarce. This forces wildlife to congregate in very tight areas offering great dining opportunities for the region's predators. Just some of the wildlife that you might see in Tarangire National Park includes: lions, leopards, cape buffalo, hartebeest, elephants, oryx, impala, gazelle, zebra and rhinoceros.
