Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge

Bill is now in Zambia - and I'm still playing catch-up to get things up to date. But we're gong to wind the clock back a day or two and take a more in depth look a the Saybinyo Silverback Lodge in Rwanda. This will be the last blog post concerning the Rwanda portion of the Summer safari of 2009. For other blog posts from this safari, click on the appropriate link below:

Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge

Bill had stayed at the Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge on this portion of his 2009 summer safari. This is the most luxurious lodge in the area and is located just minutes away from the meeting point for gorilla treks. The lodge features stunning views of the volcanic Virunga mountains.

Guest cottages and the main lodge building have been beautifully constructed and appointed making the lodge the perfect base from which to explore this unique and fascinating corner of Africa.

The lodge was built in 2007 and operated by the famous Governors’ Camp, a safari group that has earned fame in Kenya. The lodge is actually owned by a Community Trust, SACOLA, which uses rentals and community fees from the lodge to drive socio-economic and conservation initiatives in the communities adjacent to the National Park.
