Sabi Sand Game Reserve
Easy to Access Big Five Game Viewing
The Sabi Sand Game Reserve borders the enormous Kruger National Park but within this private game reserve area you are not restricted by National Park rules, which means you can do night game drives, walks, and best of all drive off road allowing close and exciting viewing of the tremendous wildlife. This area is the undisputed best location to observe the Big Five – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard. It is not unusual to find all five in a single day and the reserve is legendary for leopard, usually the most elusive of them all.
There is no fence between the Sabi Sand Game Reserve and Kruger allowing wildlife to move between the areas. Inside the Sabi Sand there are numerous permanent water sources, which draw and keep wildlife in the reserve making densities particularly high. The entire reserve is 140,000 acres divided into eighteen privately owned sub-areas where lodges have their traversing rights, thus game drives take place where lodges have their rights rather than throughout the entire reserve.
Sabi Sand Game Reserve is convenient for guests flying into the major hub of Johannesburg from which you can be connected by a quick flight or most lodges can be reached in six to seven hours by road. Lodging is of a very high standard, ranging from simple luxury to the extravagantly luxurious point of winning global awards. There are currently thirty-four different lodges to choose from and usage areas differ greatly in size and quality.
