Mateya Safari Lodge is located in the east central portion of Madikwe Game Reserve. Mateya's location is prime for game viewing as it has great views of a waterhole and Madikwe Game Reserve Plains.
Madikwe Game Reserve is located in the Northwest Territory of South Africa and borders Botswana (see the map to the right).

Mateya Safari Lodge Wildlife
Mateya Lodge offers essentially the same game viewing experience as the other Madikwe Game Reserve lodges. Access to all of the Big 5 - lions, leopard, cape buffalo, rhino, and elephant. Leopards are elusive as they are in most safari areas - but with diligent tracking and patience they can be spotted. A bonus of visiting Madikwe Game Reserve is that it is one of the few safari areas that feature endangered African Wild Dogs.
The waterhole at Mateya Safari Lodge offers some game viewing opportunities that other safari lodges within Madikwe don't have.
