Epic 2010 Botswana Flooding
Denver Zoo Research Associate / Wildlife Biologist Helps You Plan Around Flooding

2010 Botswana Okavango Delta Flood

I have written at great length about the 2010 Okavango Delta Flood and its impact on Botswana Safaris in my Africa Safari Blog.

Here are some of the essential things that you need to consider when planning your 2010 or 2011 safari to Botswana:

  • Last year's floods were the largest in 50 years
  • The 2010 floods have already begun and also look to be very substantial
  • Water levels are still high from last year - meaning floods will have a magnifying effect
  • Many Botswana safari camps are already re-locating guests or encouraging bookings later in the year
  • Floods rearrange the game viewing opportunities - animals are flooded out of many usual locations - and congregate in new locales
  • I travel to Botswana around three times annually and have witnessed the impact on wildlife with my own eyes
  • Combining my extensive Botswana travel with my wildlife biology background and I'm able to put you in the optimal locations to see wildlife under these dynamically changing conditions
  • Contact me now so that I can help educate you on the changing conditions in Botswana and how we can plan a safari that takes advantage of these conditions to bring you the safari experience of a lifetime

About Me

I'm Bill Given – Denver based wildlife biologist and safari guide. Based on your requirements I use my knowledge and experience to custom craft a Botswana safari that will exceed your expectations.

I have travelled extensively throughout Botswana, and while all African safari destinations offer unique opportunities, Botswana is my favorite destination for diversity of game viewing and cultural opportunities.

Botswana Experience

I have led numerous safaris to Botswana and planned many more for independent travelers. My time guiding groups and conducting predator research in Botswana has allowed me to form many relationships with safari camp owners and managers, local guides, and other wildlife biologists. This type of firsthand knowledge has given me great insight into wildlife densities and seasonal movements, as well as an insider's knowledge of most of the camp/lodging options available. I also had an article published by Africa Geographic – Pack of Surprises on the highly endangered African Wild Dogs of Northern Botswana.

Your Needs Are My Priority

My wildlife and science background ensure that I will put you in the best possible places to see the wildlife that you want to see on your Botswana safari. I also have relationships with many different camp owners to offer a full range of accommodation options to meet the wide variety of personal tastes, from vintage and rustic safari styles to extravagant luxury. Botswana has diverse safari regions as well as a number of different exciting activities. I make sure you know what all these options are and help you craft the perfect mix of places and activities to create the ideal itinerary for your interests. I can also advise when it would be wise to consider a different safari country for your needs or how to combine another location with Botswana as appropriate to design the perfect trip.

A Botswana Safari Preview in Your Home

Safari Presentation at Your House

Going on a safari in Botswana requires an investment in both time and money. You need to be informed and know exactly what your options are.

There is no better way to get that information than for me to bring my Introduction to Safari presentation to your home or other meeting location within Colorado. The presentation is highly informative and extremely entertaining.

Note: I bring the large predators and prey of the African Plains to life within your living room. For that reason, I ask that all small pets are kept away from the presentation area for their own safety.
