Tanzania Safari Days 2 and 3: Katavi National Park

Thursday, 14 May 2009 06:19 by webmaster

Bill has by this time made it to Katavi National Park in Tanzania for his second stop on his Tanzania Safari 2009. Click below to see the other stops on the 2009 Tanzania Safari.

Katavi National Park

Bill is staying at the Katuma Bush Lodge in Katavi National Park from May 14th - May 15th. The lodge is situated in the center of Katavi National Park and offers game viewing for a lot of different megafauna - especially Cape Buffalo. Cape Buffalo Herds in Katavi National Park can exceed 1,000 and some herds are reported to be the largest in Africa, topping out at over 3,000 individuals. Also at Katavi National Park during dry season is the spectacle of watching hundreds of hippos crowding into receding water areas.

Above, you can see Bill's progress. By this time he has moved on from Arusha for his two day stay in Katavi, and will be off to see the chimpanzees at Mahale National Park this weekend.
