For many safari goers Hemmingway style means more than vintage canvas tents and the perfect gin and tonic, it means a rare foray into writing to try and capture the essence of their own experiences. It makes sense. Safari can be a profound journey of discovery and capturing the moments and emotions in words is one of the best ways to savor the journey both at the time of writing and again whenever you want in the future. An unusual few seem satisfied with their writing efforts, most of my clients return disappointed in their journaling with a common litany of issues. Often the culprit is over writing the details and thus falling two, three, then four days behind to where the experiences have piled up too long and then the person submits to making haphazard notes or outright gives up. Another problem is that journaling becomes a duty rather than an enjoyable enhancing activity and can actually cause one to miss their relax time.

With so many special interest safaris available I am surprised that I cannot find anyone currently offering a safari focused on writing. I have reached out to Dave Fox and together we are going to co-lead a Travel Journaling safari to Botswana. We are still working through the details but I am very excited to offer this opportunity.
