Zambia Safaris Overview
Victoria Falls is Zambia’s biggest drawing card but beyond the falls Zambia has incredible national parks that are rich with wildlife and great scenery. This country is famous for walking safaris with outstanding walking routes and tremendously skilled guides. This is also a great safari location for adventurous canoe trips. For an active adventure safari this is likely the best option. Game drives are also excellent but less exclusive than Botswana since they take place in national parks but the number of vehicles is still a fairly low density, much lower than in typical East African parks. Accommodation is similar to Botswana with luxury tented accommodations in remote scenic areas but most are a little more rustic than in Botswana and most are not quite as secluded since they need to be able to access the National Parks.

Zambia Safari Regions
South Luangwa National Park
This is the most established destination and has the largest variety of camps. A must do on a Zambia safari for walking and game drives.
North Luangwa National Park
Very remote with little development and the site of some very good walking safaris. This is an excellent area to get away for a wilderness safari devoid of other people.
Lower Zambezi National Park
This park is along the Zambezi River and is the location for the some of the best and most exciting canoeing safaris. It is also a rich area for game drives.
Kafue National Park
This is an enormous National Park that is very remote and often compared to the Okavango Delta but it has only recently gained popularity as a tourist destination. A prime spot for a look at raw African wilderness that is still lightly discovered.
Victoria Falls/Livingstone
Due to political issues in Zimbabwe much of the Victoria Falls tourism has moved to the Zambia side of the falls. The view from each country gives a unique perspective but many think that Zimbabwe delivers the more impressive view. It is possible to stay in Zambia and cross over for the view and virtually all of the other Falls attractions are now available in Zambia.
